The old one had bigger boot/luggage with several features, including adjustable backrest, bigger rear doors, better visibility in all directions, more spacious higher seating position, better comfort and calmer steering - the new one, much better?
Highly unlikely...

Peugeot can't make really good cars, they make a less good car and "paint it in screaming colors" and "flashing lights" which is supposed to attract attention... so no one should notice all the flaws, and most buys happily the scam.

Peugeot 208 Is less safe than the Corsa according to EuroNcap, partly because of the luxurious center console, that impress so many ignorant people, is causing damage to the passengers' legs.

It's cheaper to fool people into believing it is a fantastic car, than actually make one, that is the secret strategy of PSA.
