Vauxhall Corsa hatchback (2006-2014) review - CarBuyer

The Vauxhall Corsa is a firm fixture in the UK's best sellers list -- and with good reason. The spacious supermini offers practicality and comfort on a par with larger cars. Following a recent mechanical refresh in 2010, the Corsa received a brand-new face in 2011 along with a few interior updates. Now it not only drives well, but it looks just as stylish as its rivals, too. The small petrol engines make the most sense, although the diesel does return great economy -- particularly the ecoFLEX model with its 86mpg capability.

I have a 1.2L petrol (2011) that has 83hp and does 40mpg in town and about 60mpg on motorway (because of the constant speed), it can be slow up the hills but when you get up to speed it's a great first car to cruise around in. Easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces and easy to park as well - plus i like how the wing mirrors look and fold in.

This version is an excellent car.  I do not have one fault with it and regularly beat cars off the line and I drive it up and down motorways and I have never thought it was sluggish.  One of my family used to have the Fiesta so I have driven both and much prefer the Corsa and it even kept up with a Honda over a long distance and on the motorway so definitely not slow and in fact I would say nippy and I have the points to prove it.  The ride is much smoother.  It has never failed an MOT in 5 years despite being 10 years old. I have only had it 5 years.  In fact I have been looking to trade it in, just because it is 10 years old,  but honestly can not think of another car even newer I want to buy hence why looking at the 2015 Corsa and that led me here but at the current time I may just keep it a little longer.

for some random reason I find the Vauxhall logo more appealing on a car than the Opel logo.

I've got one of these and it does not feel sluggish on motorways or picking up speed at all. 2000rpm to 4000rpm you really feel the power of the turbo.

2:10 avoid the smaller engines? i have the 1L and its not sluggish at all. heres a tip. drop into 3rd or 4th and floor it. and its not vauxhall that does it. vauxhall just takes your money

It's a great wee car like, but the only thing I don't like is the way the indicator and wiper stalks work!

Can't really go wrong with a Corsa. There is good reason that they are popular with driving instructors. I always find it helpful to look at who uses the cars professionally when deciding on a new car. if the police, paramedics, taxis, driving instructors use them then they are pretty solid buy just my 2 pennies :)

For people saying wow corsas... such a slow car, it completely depends on the engine!!! You can have a 1L ecoflex that puts out 75hp to the 1.4T and 1.6T which are 120hp and 150hp respectively, and not to mention the Vxr with a 192hp 1.6T, the Arctic with 205hp, the Nurburgring edition with 203hp and the Vxr-r with 240hp!!! Ive owned one for 2 years and have loved every minute :)

I have a 1.2 sxi 62 plate Vauxhall corsa and it's amazing :) my first car as an 18 year old and it's perfect, don't see why you would even compare it to a Polo seeing as a Polo looks like a dogs shit where as the current Corsa is beautiful, and with the darker head lights and tail lights, and the chrome tip chunky exhaust, as well as the fog lights, it's beautiful, as even is the standard corsa! So shut up corsa haters :P

I own a 2011 1.4 corsa Sri and even though it's only a small 1.4 engine I find it to be quite poor on fuel even when driving gently

Rented a 1.2L 5dr 62 reg Corsa for a couple of weeks. Rebecca's opinion is dead on with my experience. The 1.2L engine lacked power and the A-pillars were an annoyance. Everything else, great. Get a 1.4L petrol or the Ecoflex, and you'll have one of the best in class.
