There's actually already a way to classify these. They're in the clade Amoebazoa, its sister group is Obazoa and together they form the supergroup Amorphea.

What this means is that they're most closely related with animals, fungus and various unicelular eukaryote groups.

Slime molds are really only hard to classify if you cling to the old kingdom system
