I just changed my internal wifi 6 card to hotspot, there's a lot of small settings to change in device manager to make sure the VR headset gets 1.2 gbps. maybe a good follow up. Thsx!

Thanks for all that mate. One thing imho with either Link or Air Link (the Virtual Desktop app is now not necessary for me with my Q2) is to avoid using older gtx1000 and 1600 series gpu's because their encoders and vram are much slower than newer rtx2000 and 3000 series gpu's. Likewise, avoid AMD gpu's for now.

I agree that you need a proper router/wifi setup. Wifi 5 or wifi 6 does not really make much difference right now imho (866 vs 1200 mbps). The important thing is to make sure you're ethernet wired and have dedicated 5Ghz very close by and preferably without any other 5Ghz users. I kick all my household users to 2.4Ghz so I'm the only one on 5Ghz, and disable band steering. I also use 200mbps dynamic bitrate with Air Link Oculus home dashboard settings.

I also use SteamVR a lot with my Q2/rtx3090 and I avoid/disable using the SteamVR home because it's not necessary. I just use the SteamVR void and Library panels. Also, make sure your SteamVR visuals are set at 100% max for all apps and disable both motion smoothing and advanced SS filtering. I also enable Steam to startup when I start up win10 and have it end up in my lower right taskbar which I find is very handy.

I find it best to use the left Q2 controller menu button to turn these on/off and centre these panels, plus to exit apps. I use the right controller oculus button to exit SteamVR and go back to the Rift home. For me I avoid using the Oculus dollhouse home by disabling this at the bottom of the settings/general tab so I just get the Oculus void w/panels. Much faster and uses less resources.

I also make sure that ODT settings are default or zero's except I enable link sharpening and disable asw. I find I need to restart oculus services to get these to take hold.

As far as Oculus device setting go I've found the sweet spot for my Q2/rtx3090 is 80Hz refresh and the res slider full right (= Q2 native res). The res/clarity is better than any other VR headset I've ever used and while the blacks are not quite as good as oled, they are still very good imho.

How come when I am in the oculus desktop app on the headset with the headset paired, I click on steam and nothing happens, a little window opens at the bottom of my screen and it wont launch on my headset.

Right now it says I have a 2.4ghz for my WiFi. Is there any way I can change this to 5ghz or do I need to buy a new router? Whenever I play games like Phasmaphobia or Pavlov my game gets really choppy sometimes and it’s gotten to where I will look around and see nothing but blackness like the game just stopped loading. It normally fixes itself but is the fact I’m not on 5ghz the problem? Also My PC is hardwired with an Ethernet cable.

I may be getting VR this Christmas :D. So should a Ryzen 7 5800 and a Rtx 3060 work fine? I think I have wifi 5 so there may be issues but hopefully not too extreme.
