I am new to golf, 1 year under my belt. I simply never thought to take half my irons out of the bag and get a hybrid. I hate my 4i 5i! I need to replace them!! Simplicity! Thank you!

This set would be good for Rick Shiels.

Lets make a less expensive option.
Wedge- Kirkland wedges 52-56-60 $159
Balls- Kirkland 24 pack $25
Putter-Kirkland $150
Irons- Takomo 101’s $459
Hybrid- PXG 0211 $174
Fairway wood- PXG 0211 $174
Driver- PXG 0211 $190

These would cost half of what was shown on here and perform better for a high handicapped golfer.

Hey Pete, always love your videos. As a golfer for 10+ years, whenever I speak to friends and try to convince them into golf, they look at the price range and cannot comprehend spending 700-1000 for a set of clubs.

Would he great if you (maybe in collaboration with golfbidder) would put together a series for golf set for 100, 200, 300 etc. Thanks for your content!

Never thought I’d pick up golf, but while I have been out of the country I have been playing on a Foresight Sim and I’m hooked!

LOL 😂 so proud of myself. Started golf more than a year ago...after using 30 years old used clubs decided to invest last winter using Black Friday deals and now playing with:
-Inesis 500 3 hybrid (no driver yet as this flies straightish to 200 and gives me confidence)
-jpx919 hot metal (leaving 5 iron at home) 500€ on black friday
-Cleveland rtx 56 only
-an old ping pal2 refurbished by me kept it from the old set and love it
-playing Titleist tour soft as I bought 3 boxes a few months ago

So proud of myself Pete as you mentioned almost everything except the wedge and the putter :)

7 clubs and walk around easily playing around 100 but working on my game hard.

Btw thanks 🙏🙏🙏 for the swingquest channel. Helps a lot!

I love that u did this. Too many channels just show new after new after new. Which ultimately means$$$$. I can tell u that I’ve only bought one club new ever. That being my putter. Speedzone cobra driver used. M2 3 wood used. GAPR 2 iron used Taylormade Burner 2.0 irons used ( all still in wrappers but the 7). Used wedges Taylormade 50 & 60 Callaway 56. Odyssey mallet putter. Free golf balls! Walk the dogs in the winter and pick up balls

Been playing for almost 2 yrs and finally getting to the 100 mark. I've been working the bag for about a year now. Started with a Dick's Sports starter set but now playing a Cobra Radspeed XB driver, Cobra speedzone 5 wood and a radspeed 7 wood. Also have a 3 wood but not in the bag currently. Irons are the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo 6 through D wedge. I benched the 5 iron in favor of the 7 wood. I have a Cleveland chipper and Costco 56 and 60 wedge as well as the Costco putter. I find all my clubs easy to hit and all go different distances and work for different shots. I am 60yrs old so I'm not concerned withax distance but controlled distances. I just haven't found hybrids easy but hybrid irons very very easy.

I’m a very high handicapper. I carry a cobra draw driver, Cleveland Launcher irons, Vockey wedges and a Callaway Fusion 5 wood. Taylor Made Truss putter. This set up has helped my game but I still struggle. I wish I had the time and money for 20 or so lessons and time to practice.

As much as I like your videos Pete, I added up how much the set of clubs you recommend cost, it came up to £2074.00. Non of that £2074 will make a high handicap golfer any better than the same high handicap golfer, using a £500 package set. Someone in your position really shouldn't be encouraging new, inexperienced or casual golfers to spend that kind of ridiculous money.

I'm a high handicap golfer. Been playing forever, but never really got serious about the game until the past year. I carry a bag that would be at home in an antique shop, but absolutely love just about every club in it. Ping G2 Black Dot irons and wedges, Ram Zebra putter, and original Tight Lies fairway woods. The one concession to the 21st century is a brand new Ping G425 Max driver, to replace my original Big Bertha. With regular league play and lots of range time, my game has improved significantly, and my impression is that it will be a very long time before these clubs hold me back. Total spend (irons/wedges are good used) is well under $1000. Favorite ball, at the moment, is the Supersoft. Rick's testing hasn't shown me any reason to spend twice as much for the Chromesoft or Pro V1.

I literally clicked like on the 7.8k likes! Pete if you feel like being a lad and sending that beautiful putter to Thailand I would be eternally grateful! Thanks for the free lessons, please keep them coming. Getting my golf fix while sitting at the office.

I 100% agreed with the driver you chose, as a 18-20 handicapper I've recently upgraded my driver from an old taylormade R5 to the callaway Max LS, super forgiving out of the toe and heel. I didn't plenty of research into what would potentially suit my game (natural fade/slicer) and will also be adaptable for the next 10 years as I hopefully improve. I then went and did a driver fitting to see what they recommended and made sure I had the correct shaft my my swing. Next on the list is my woods and then either irons or wedges.

As high handicapper that only play 8 or 10 times a year I have bought my woods second hand - A Ping G10 10.5 degree driver a Ping G25 3 wood an I picked up a Ping G10 3 hydrid (18 deg). I did invest in a set of new irons a few years ago - TaylorMade Rocket Bladez that I replaced my old Wilson Fatshafts with around 2014. My main issue is fitness (bit lardy these days), and trying not to get frustrated at the lack of consistency which is silly as I cannot expect to be playing so rarely (although i was a lot better many years ago). Balls I tend to use the £20ish a dozen ones I am on AD333's at present.

Hi, Pete from the USA! I’m a 15 handicap, senior(76year old) playing three to four times a week. My bag is a Sun Mountain. Clubs are Callaway Mavrik Max Driver, 5 wood, 4, 5, 6 hybrids. 7-AW and a set 52&56 Cleveland Zip Core wedges. Putter is Taylor made Spider. I also added a Callaway 7 wood.

Best suggestion is a half set of irons, I agree fully . Although I would not start with a four but 5 7 9 gw

I'm playing for 8 years now but only on public courses since i dont have a official handicap... Due to social anxiety, taking lessons with a group of ppl i dont know is a big step i havn't been able to take. But that doesn't take away my love for the game and i play as much as time/work/family allows me ;) Mostly my set still contains the clubs i started out with 8 years ago (a 10 piece Spalding starter set i picked up for 280 euro's) Due to not having a big budget i buy a club or 2 a year to upgrade my set. After getting 4 clubs to get to 14 in total and getting a new putter and 3 wood, the starter set wedges and irons are next to be replaced in the next few years. Looking foreward to the video of you playing against Jacob with hickory clubs... thats gonna be fun to watch! :D

Cracking little video - and I agree with many of the comments here too. As a former high handicapper, there are lots of "little" things that I wish I knew, the main one being 'don't buy new'. so while I think these choices of club are really useful, I wouldn't recommend a HH buy new, instead look at similar clubs from 3/4 years ago (much like your Golfbidder videos).
That said, as the perfect set for a HH - you can't go far wrong with those Pete!
FWIW (11.5 Dr, 16.5 3W, 19h, 22h, 26h, 6/7/8/9/P, 50/56/60 | 19h>P are GI)

I made my bag up from 20+ year old Ping Zing's my brother left behind. Added a used Ping G-410 driver and a new Bombtech 5-wood.
I'm convinced it's time for a NEW set of Ping G-425's. Thanks for confirming the right pick!

I've been playing since mid June, I bought my clubs and bag second hand, I get out about once a week and down to the range the same. Love playing the game, got my handicap to 29.
Clubs used.
Taylormade m3 driver
Callaway x2 hot 3 wood
Taylormade aeroburner 5 Wood
4-lw Adams idea a70s irons
Callaway jaws gap wedge
Odyssey white ice putter.
Currently saving for a new set of irons, not sure which ones yet.
Been an avid follower since I took the game up, great videos, tips, trips and laughs. Keep up the good work.
