Thanks. Any pointers for how to not seriously burn yourself on the catalytic converter since it's close to the dipstick port? The obvious answer is wait until it cools off but the the instructions are to "check idling in park". I can see no way to do that without getting seriously injured (thank engineer) I'm just going to check it with the engine cooled off and assume that the lower level will rise to approximately to the correct spot.
