Danny, just to give you some insight, India also has the hierarchal system and in several of our language we also have equivalents of "oppa" "unnie" "hyung" "noona" "ahjussi" etc. And we use obviously the international age system but we don't find it difficult to use it with our hierarchical structure. We simply consider someone older only if they are atleast one year older. We don't really consider months older person as an "oppa" or "hyung" in our language. So ig you guys should do the same. I swear it's rather going to be easier this way than the current system in sk.

It’s the way I immediately thought about GOT7 when you mentioned the early borns and the vid proved me right a few seconds afterwards.

That was so helpful! Thanks for helping explain Korean culture. I laughed at the fact that this is even confusing to Koreans.

I once saw an explanation of Korean age that made it suddenly make sense to me. Korean age is the number of calendar years a person has been alive. So if you have one of those calendars with one year per page, take all the pages from the year you were born to the current year and count them. My birthday is late December, so when I was alive for 30 days it would be both correct to say I was younger than one year old and correct to say I was alive during [at least part of] two years.

When I first started watching korean drama and variety shows, I didn't get why they always ask how old someone is. But now I get that there is a lot of language and cultural practice around how old or young someone is. In the US, asking how old someone is when you first meet them could be seen as rude in most settings.

Twenty-five Twenty-one reference I see U.... I'm rewatching the drama with my mom and I have literally no idea why I've decided to subject myself to such pain for the second time.. anyweh. Great video guys! Love the editing format for this one. I've really been enjoying all these more short informative videos about Korea on the channel lately as well!
