The DM6 USB Kit also comes with three tom pads, an upright kick drum pad, hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbal pads. Alesis have included their own bass drum pedal and the kick pad is compatible with any single or double bass drum pedal that would suit your own personal feel.

Withe the Alesis DM6 USB the user can edit and save customised sound drum kits and in all there are 10 pre-sets and 5 customisable memory patches. The DM6 has headphone and amplifier outputs so you can play undisturbed using the phones or connect up to an amplified audio source and rock out, there's also the ability to connect an iPod or CD player and mix it in with the DM6's stereo input jack. The DM6 module has a metronome, an essential tool for keeping steady time whether you're practicing alone or with a band, additionally the Alesis DM6 USB also has a built-in sequencer with 40 pre-set music tracks for play along to.

The DM6 USB Kit mounts onto a heavy-duty aluminum rack and the standard 1 1/2" tubing enables you to expand and grow the kit with Alesis's own and other brands' clamps and mounts. The kit also comes with a full set of mounting hardware and cables, as well as rugged kick drum and hi-hat pedals.

I've just bought this.  I'm a beginner.  OK, so it's not the best in the world, but I've been playing it now for a while and it does what I wanted it to do.  It's compact, it fits into the relatively small space I have, it sounds good.  It allows me to practise and find my own rhythm, my own voice.  I may move on to something sharper, more dynamic and with more options - but that comes at a price, and right now I don't know if I'll need or want that.  This is a good, solid kit to start out with and learn to discover.

Early on in this video there were a load of naff novelty sounds. Along with one patch that had a couple of really nice drum sounds ruined by daft sounds coming off the cymbals. Near the end of the 15 main patches some actual drum kit sounds that are at least usable started to come along.

So glad I carried on watching. As I would totally discount this kit completely otherwise.

I owned this kit for 1 1/2 years and it did exactly what I needed it to do, sadly I lost it in a shipping accident (I lived overseas and a TON of water got into the containers). The one thing I regret doing is not buying an amp, you need one of those. I would recommend to any beginners, you can get this kit used for $120-$220 USD. If you want an acoustic, pearl export series hands down.

What do you use to amplify this kit and how do you get the sounds on every part of the drum? I'm finding this difficult as I'm used to an acoustic kit. Help please

Yes, There is a Metal preset that changes the hi hat to a second kick pedal. or you could just use a double kick pedal on the pad like you would with a real kick drum.

I had the DDrum DD1, which is the identical kit with a different brain. It lasted two years of my playing daily until I sold it. It was really sturdy.

Just got the kit delivered 7/17/18. Some sensitivity near the cymbal mounts. If you hit them it triggers the snare randomly... Pretty solid considering I paid $279 for it. I was able to build a decent sounding kit out of the 108 selections. Pretty top heavy so make sure you have the legs positioned right. All in all I can't complain.

Steve Gadd used this same kit on many of his legendary recordings...

Phantom snare hits at 1:03...I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that problem with this kit...

Hey, nice review. Made me finally deciding to go for this one, as a similar-featured Yamaha costs twice as much.
I have 2 questions:
1) Can you hit the border of the snare to make it sound like when you hit only the metal border of the drum in an acoustic (with the stick flat across the drum?
2) Is it true that these kits have static sound in the background, no matter if playing thru headphones or amplifier? Or does your doesn't present this issue at all?

Thanks for the video, man.

What you don't notice is how little you can move each pad. Also, the cymbals make a really loud noise when hit. They also scratch/get white marks really easy.

how's that for dynamics and specifically ghost notes? and how does the bell ride trigger works since the cymbal pad isn't two-zoned? thanks

The DM 10X pads are great. You can adjust the heads to feel more like a real drum kit. Hope Alesis release updates to the drum sounds.

I have An Alesis DM6 and have had nothing but problems with it, have had to replace triggers manually soldering new ones in the kick pedal and the snare 2 times, finally had enough, bought a BehringerXD80, now that is an awesome Kit that wont Break the bank, the Behringer is amazing, so much better, and cheaper.
