I had a folder on my desktop that I could not move, delete or rename. After lots of searching it turns out that the issue was in the name of the folder. Windows doesn't like it when there are SPACES at then END of the folder name. It says it can't find it, because it's looking for the name without the spaces. So you need to use the Command Line and tell it exactly the name of the folder to delete - with the spaces at the end.

Cannot delete file, cannot delete folder, cannot rename folder, Delete Folder, recycle bin, Cannot Delete Folder From Desktop, Item Not Found, Could Not Find This Item, This is no longer located in C:\Users\, Desktop, Verify the item's location and try again., Try again, C:\Users\, Command Line delete, How to delete file in windows, windows won't let me delete file, windows won't let me rename file, windows can't find file on desktop, desktop delete, windows won't let me rename folder, windows can't find folder on desktop,

THIS is the BEST VIDEO! Simple and clear! It worked!! I tried other videos that always said the same things about CMD but didn't address this issue of " item not found" . BUT just in case: I followed the instructions here and it said copy and paste the TOP words. ( videos) . It didn't specify so i was afraid it might ERASE all the videos. So move your videos first leaving only the corrupted file behind. Then I deleted that video specifically under cmd.
Thanks again Dave for making this video saving a lot of people including me!!

Thanks man, you are a star! I tried 10 other ways and none of them worked. Nobody else mentioned the spaces at the end of the name. Spot on!! Thanks again :-)

This did not work. First, when double clicking the folder, it will not open in file explorer. Second, when simply typing out the path and using your command, it does ask if I am sure but then still says system cannot find the file specified. My folder name is "full e.t." and "c.o.l.o.". I believe it may have something to do with the "." at the end of these folders, but not sure. Any help would be appreciated!

I found multiple solutions that were very similar to this but never mentioned the "Why" which was the space at the end. I had tried this prompt copying the file path and it never worked, I was probably drag, highlight and ctrl+C to get the filepath, not realizing I needed that extra space at the end that was actually there the whole time but undetected by me and apparently windows. Thanks!!!
