Maya’s story made me cry so hard. I feel so bad for kitties that were declawed, but your family gave her a stable, safe environment after a really rough start. So, so beautiful!

On the note of declawing, cats walk on their tip toes, they’re literally amputating the part that makes contact with the ground. Thank you for highlighting this!!

After hearing Maya pass i started balling my eyes out because my childhood pet died a month ago and sometimes i regret not spending so much time with him.

Cats and dogs just know, THEY KNOW when you need to say goodbye to them.

Last year, my roommates had to say goodbye to their little old man cat of 15 years. He was absolutely THEIR pet, and he had a much better relationship with them. But on our last night together, he came right up to me, sat on my chest and let me pet him for hours. And that was the first time I'd ever heard him purr around me. I'm forever grateful to that little man for giving me those memories.

Pets are some of the best things ever. I remember my old cat. When I was six, she accidentally sat under my little pirate jacket. So I put my pirate hat on her, and she sat there, dressed as a pirate, for HOURS.
Those were the good old days :)

Hearing you talk about saying goodbye to Maya made me genuinely have to stop and cry. I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Bruno last August, and it was my first time in the room with a pet being euthanized. I pet him and held him and me and my dad cried our fucking eyes out. Bruno was the last pet in our family I’d grown up around, and loosing him hurt so bad. My mom found him as a tiny stray kitten, and raised him up. We have so many good stories about him. He was a very cuddly and very drooly old man. His muzzle and ears were all knicked up, and his eye was left blind because no matter what we did he kept escaping and getting into cat fights.

In December we adopted two wonderfully bouncy and strange kittens, not siblings, but may aswell be with how close they are. Kepler our little bannana loving freak of an escape artist is the first pet who’s really preferred me over anybody else. He’s not a fan of pets but loves to come sit with me- he especially loves watching me play Pokémon. Callisto, out older cat, is very sweet- but unfortunately shows her affection trough biting and kicking. She screamed at doors till we open them and pet her- and just had this one ridge of fur stick up as opposed to her whole back when she’s puffed. Although I really do miss Bruno, getting to bring two new cats into my families life has been wonderful.

When my first cat died, I told her “If I ever love another cat, it’s because I loved you first”, and I’ve been lucky to love so many cats since then!

@9:10 Props to your parents for recognizing that sometimes giving your pet back is the best possible thing you can do for it!, I hope your dog lived a great life with owners who had the time for her and it's really good your parents were able to recognize that and instead got you guys a cat! And one that could be a perfect fit for your family!

This video is really helping me process my cat’s death today. I had her from kindergarten, now 19 years later, I’m about to graduate college. She was my baby and I’ll miss her so much. But like you said, that doesn’t mean I have to feel guilty about loving our new dog. She’ll always be my childhood bestie and owner of a special place in my heart. Love you, Zizi 🐱❤️

The universe is strange. Just had to say goodbye to my 20 year old cat a couple days ago. It's been terribly painful, we've cried so much, but we had a wonderful life with him and for that I am grateful. He was our sweet sweet sweet boy.

10:45 The fact that you did that to make Cheeto feel like family proves how much of a good pet owner and mother you are!

That story with the train passing is my worst nightmare. Omg. Can’t even imagine how your mom must’ve felt :(

My 12 year old dog Phineas passed away May 6th 2024. He was my best friend for over 12 years, saw me through elementary school, middle school, high school and then college. He died from congenital heart failure. I was able hold him in his final moments to make sure he knew he was loved until the very end. This video resonated with me so much
They aren’t just pets, they’re family

5:46 in 1995 my dad found a declawed kitten in a bush outside of his apartment building. She’d been attacked by a bunch of feral cats that lived nearby. He rescued her, named her Socks (because of her all white paws, the rest of her was tabby) and married my mom in 1998. He and my mom and my half sister and Socks were a family of 4.

Socks was very shy and when my sister and I were born she wouldn’t interact much with us. She got more friendly the older she got, but suffered from arthritis (likely from whoever declawed her :( ), blindness, hearing loss, and cancer. She lived for 20 long years and when her health started to slowly decline, we braced every year for the loss. It got to the point where we lovingly joked that she’d be planning OUR funerals! She was sweet and shy and loved to sit on the dryer to feel warm! We miss her all the time.

I've never cried so hard for one of your videos as much as I did for this one and trust me a lot of your videos have made me cry (because they hit me in the heart) this video reminded me of my boy sky I miss him I grew up with him he was there for me when it was cold at night and I didn't have a blanket because it was in the wash he was so adorable and he was actually chill for a husky he was the best puppy ever that's why it hurt when he had to be put down and the worst part was I couldn't even be there for him I was at school while my mom made the hard choice I cried for a long time I cried in class I cried every where and even now I still cry he was like my best friend in a time when I had practically no friends I miss him I love your videos illy they are beautiful and impactful I hope you continue to make more and I hope all your previous pets rest in peace and rip to my boy sky you will be missed

As a soon graduating veterinary technician, this was so beautiful. Some people don’t get pet grief counseling, grieving pets or anything of that sort. They are FAMILY, and they love us just how we love them ❤️
