I always forget there's more to boxing than head and body shots

The first time I stood in front of a bigger guy (heavyweight pro) I realized I had no idea how to land on him. First thing he told me after he realized I was froze up was "hit the arms".
These guys in the comments saying its a bad idea aren't smart enough to realize *you don't tell the guy that's what you're going for!* It looks like you're still aiming for his head to him!😅 and he'll make moves that open him up.
Great vid, man. Ignore (or laugh at) the goofballs who can't think outside the box.

Or take the far more simple approach.
Drop your center of gravity.
Increase head movement.
Combine increased movement with parries.
Rush into the pocket and stick your head to his chest and stay there.

An opponent who is comfortable and skilled at maintaining and controlling distance is often unlikely to be comfortable with infighting

Small, sharp, fast, that's for in fighters

This is just like when Ippo fought Mashiba in Hajime No Ippo

PS: I.D.C about the difference between my statement and the actual fight, i see what i see and people see what they see. If you disagree, then i can't change that.

Also, using the wing chun technique of blocking with the sharp end of the elbows is very useful too and has the same effect

Another way to deal with taller opponents is to keep your head low while shifting your whole upper body weight at a high velocity from side to side (try to move in a sort of infinity sign). You then use the rebound from swaying to throw punches from side to side, resulting in a possible knockout.

Beware of counters though.

Only problem with aiming for triceps is if you miss you bust your hand up on their elbow

2nd time of sparring and this idea comes to mind since it's frustrating that I couldn't even tap him. Guess my fighting IQ ain't that bad

Use this tip to fight taller opponents that are twigs ☠️

I do it all the time in sparring against taller guys. Learned it by trying it in muay thai, it definitely works.

Pro tip: if you manage to slip his jab on the inside but you're scared of a follow up or counter rear hand of either an uppercut or a straight, hit his shoulder on his rear side to disable initial counters and follow up with a counter of your own like an uppercut. But be warned, you have to be prepared to get hit and take the risk for the sweet reward

I just use euro style to put my arm in the way of his jabs and use a switch straight to get in close for a combo then clinch or kick but wrestling a larger guy sucks if you dont have some weight on yourself, once iam on the ground iam abit more confident

I'm new to boxing. I'm taller, and I like to switch between southpaw and orthodox. Can't I just swap my lead hand to counter this?
