Amazing work.

I was in Lynton a few years ago and went on the funicular there. Tremendous piece of old school engineering.

Great stuff, Mick! Nice to have something to operate on the model itself, like on the prototype. To slow the descent further, your might consider a bigger air-brake, (maybe underground?) with vanes that swing out by centrifugal force. That should reduce the speed but not cause the cars to stop, since the braking effect will also be reduced.
