1988 Abandoned Drive Inn and Vaughn Road at 5th Aurora Illinois

Old drive in in East New York Street near the EJ and E, Now CN tracks,
A burned down farm house on the south east corner of Vaughn and 5th in Aurora Plus a little bit of Waubonsee Lake in the Lakewood subdivision

I well remember the Skylark Drive In. We saw many movies there. What a shame it is history now.

This was the Skylark Drive-In. According to the Cinema Treasures website (cinematreasures.org), it originally opened as the Tee and See Drive-In in 1962 and closed in 1987. A comment on the website indicates that the approximate address was 3180 E. New York Street.

The screen was still standing as of the early 1990s, and other remnants (such as the enter/exit signs) lasted for years after the screen was taken down. There is no longer any trace of the drive-in today.
