The blobfish you're referring to is actually a dead blobfish. Living blobfish don't look like that. The reason that blobfish looked like the way you're thinking of is because it essentially melted because of the pressure difference. It was in pain until it died. Normally, living blobfish are actually pretty normal looking for deepsea fish.

The blob fish actually looks good underwater, except when it’s taken out of the water it’s face becomes deformed. It’s a fish from extremely deep water and it’s body is not designed to handle switching from the pressure that far deep underwater to the pressure on land.
