Adrien Brody casually dropping one of the best performances of this decade in this movie, blew me away genuinely I was caught off guard

I don't think Laszlo is gay. I think he is impotent because of war trauma. Guy Pierce's character abuses Laszlo because he "can". Regardless of whether or not he feels anything sexual towards him, which we don't know. It's a power situation. He says it himself, Laszlo is his "little whore" and treated him as such. That ended up breaking Laszlo, because it showed that he didn't respect him, that Laszlo was "nobody".

27:55 for me there was a meaning behind Harrison's disappearance, that he didn't matter anymore, and jumping to the future where Laszlo's work is remained and appreciated by everyone, that's what matters. They don't care who paid for the buildings but the artists who created them remains

You guys have great movie discussions. I like the Roy Cohn comparison. Very insightful for the previous arcs of the film.

Wow, I love you guys. After every film, I can't wait to hear what Nick and Joseph said. Thank you. Also, this film was a cinematic triumph! Truly captivating.

It’s the kind of film that seems obsessed with appearing profound rather than actually being profound. When every choice feels overly engineered for artistic prestige rather than sincere expression, . There’s something uniquely frustrating about a film that demands admiration but fails to earn it.

This movie looks really interesting. Thank goodness it has an intermission. It is nice to see something from the old days make a comeback. Most definitely I will try my best to see it in the theatre.

Excellent review. I did not know about the SA side plot. Big fan of both Brody and Pierce. I do miss the sprawling epics like Lawrence of Arabia so the runtime isn't a factor for me. Roark's character in The Fountainhead is compelling and helped me push through that novel back in the day. Thanks guys.

I'm so glad that there was another person who believes that it's not the journey - but the destination that counts 😊

This looked incredible by the trailer. And when was the last time I watched a film centered on an architect? Like never.. unless in documentary form. Same could be said for "Maria" ..a famous opera singer is the central focus. I really appreciate this and feel so enriched after viewing.

I love the t-shirt of Joan Crawford you're wearing (and I get the connection, her in Mildred Pierce and then Guy Pearce in the same remake of it more recently). Loved your review of this film!

Finally saw this tonight with a packed house at the awesome Vista Theater in the Los Feliz area. It was great to experience the movie with a big crowd, which made it clear how much humor there was in the movie (the big laughs surprised me, and I love when dramas include a lighter touch). The intermission was a Godsend that I wish more long movies would utilize.

Raffey Cassidy from sacred deer, Lanthimos wife from the lobster and alps, Joe alwyn from the favorite and kinds of kindness… Lanthimos and Corbet swapping casts? Lol

This movie had the depth of a biopic, and I was genuinely surprised to discover it was purely fictional. The storytelling often felt like it was recounting a true story. Unlike most fictional films, which often streamline every subplot for narrative efficiency, this one included seemingly incidental moments that added to its realism, much like the tangents you’d expect in non-fiction for the sake of accuracy.
