I can't express how happy it makes me to hear that Adrien Brody is bringing his A game to a movie like this again. He has been a favorite of mine for ages but he really does have a way of choosing some stinkers (looking at you, Detachment). Can't wait to experience this one.

Cannot wait to see this. It sounds absolutely incredible from all the reviews I’ve seen.
I seriously hope Guy Pearce can get nominated & win in Best Supporting Actor. He’s such a phenomenal actor & has been for decades! Give him an Oscar already I say.

Ive been a huge Adrien Brody fan for years and been thinking for a while now Guy Pearce should have some kind of huge comeback, reading the reviews of this movie praising both of these performances makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning

Since you predicted Emma Stone winning right after you saw Poor Things last year, do you predict Adrien Brody winning this year as of now?

The thing I'm most excited about is Guy Pearce's performance, whom I think is one of our best working actors. What a charismatic chameleon.

So it’s basically Oppenheimer and tar mixed together, can’t wait

I just saw it at NYFF. I love this film. One of my favorite films of the year. Everything from the cinematography, the score, costumes, production design and etc. I see it being a film that people talk about for years to come.

After winning Best Director at Venice, Brady Corbet must be the front runner for Best Director at the Oscars now.

This is also a reunion of Corbet with his Vox Lux actors Raffey Cassidy and Stacy Martin. How are they in the film? Clearly they like working with him if they keep coming back for more.

I saw The Brutalist last night at tiff. I hate to use the m word, but it really is a masterpiece. From the opening screen that says "overture", I just sat back and knew this would be such a special film. It truly is structured and presents itself in the style of an American epic, but it can add itself to that group of films now in my opinion. The cinematography and watching it in 70 mm was truly remarkable. The score is one for the ages. Also the performances were outstanding esp Brody and Pearce, and I was honestly pleasantly surprised with Joe Alwyn's performance - I have not seen him cast in a role with such depth. This totally has Oscar potential, and I think Corbet can win Best Director.

Since I first heard about this I figured the brutalist would be great so I’m glad it’s lived up to it

I was obsessed with AB and drew a bunch of drawings of him😂 then I was in NYC and I looked over and he standing next to me in the unisex washroom at Pastis. I was like 😮

I remember this film described a few years ago as being based loosely on Architect Louis Kahn, which I think is still somewhat the case, and I was THRILLED! I love architecture and couldn’t wait to the film. It sounds like Corbet took it to another level by deepening the story lines and taking from various real-life creatives. I cannot WAIT to see it!!
Also, Brian, when you said a few years ago that Tar was your favorite film of that year, I knew our tastes were very similar. Thank you for this review, have fun in Toronto!! 💙

as for Brutalist i'm more excited for Corbet recognition then for actors' roles even though i'd agree - Guy needs his shining return. Brody is good even in crappy flicks he does for money
