Ok so I should clear this up, the worst mistake here, is not that the End TImes happened, it's HOW it happened, the complete disrespect for decades of lore, is just unacceptable to me, it really should have been handled better. Anyway hope that clears up any misconceptions, and I'll be more clear next time! Thanks for watching and a have a great day!

This is bad, but we should also acknowledge their IP use policy changes that devastated many fan projects

The problem is that the “call of duty” mindset perverted the tabletop space… low attention spans, the need for constant action and lack of respect for the rank and file troops. Everyone wants to control an army of mega chads and not just one or two chads leading an army of Kyles

The end times only happened in a pocket universe created by Caledor, that's what the vortex is, it tricks chaos into thinking it destroyed the world and gives it the pocket universe of AoS to keep it busy. To achieve this Caledor had to enter his own pocket universe (he is Dracothion) and he roped some great spirits into the task (Sigmar was useful for fighting chaos in this pocket universe). This is why the structure of the AoS universe is based around the winds of magic (instead of being real space and planets) it exists in a purely magically created universe with the sole purpose of distracting the Chaos gods. The original WFB universe continues to live tha ks to the sacrifice of Caledor and the mages who knew his secret.

May we have a collective F in chat for the game that started it all

Yeah, I used to play WHFB (90s). During End Times, I just expected borders to move and certain factions to become obsolete (Kislev). But when they utterly obliterated the world, i was shocked.

I laughed out loud when Warhammer: Total War released. Had they just waited another year or two... They had to have known Sega and CA were making the game, it wasn't a surprise.

But GW wanted a Warcraft 3 clone so here we are with AoS.

I mean, the reasoning behind it was decent. The game was losing them money year after year, so they shut it down. How they shut it down, is an absolute master class in how to fuck up literally everything about a narrative conclusion to a long running world, sadly

It is the direct result of them losing a copyright case in court and being told they can no longer lay legal claim to the fantasy elements of OTHER CREATORS. It wasn't a "mistake, " it was just the naturally disgusting greed of soulless corporate parasites.

Still trying to cope with how the end times were handled and being forced to bear the pain of realizing it wasn't a drug trip I had when I also fell off the stairs

Was an absolute insult and a disgusting kind of joke that only GW could come up with. Look at what they've done with 40K for the past 36 years and 10 Editions, broken scam of a game year in year out, each edition still the same hot garbage every time.

Financially, it was a very good decision for GW. The Tactical Marine box set from 40k was outselling the entirety for Warhammer Fantasy when they killed it.

GW has made a lot of mistakes.
A bit hard to pinpoint the worst.
In my opinion I think it’s terrible that when big sets (like the burning of prospero) are no longer being manufactured, they just cease to exist.
Could at least bring them back out again like once a year or something.
Otherwise it becomes impossible to buy secondhand and they end up quadrupling in value, even if you find a GW shop that still has a few boxes they can’t sell them.

It was also disrespectful how they encouraged so many people to get back into the game. I had friends purchasing all of the new end time books and buying armies...only for it all to be for nothing when they destroyed the game. Complete disrespect to their very own customers.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

I would argue that issuing Brufa Alfabusa a cease and desist is equally stupid

Worst mistake, Price gouging their customers out of the hobby...

Small thing - GW was a general game-stuff company, not a models company. It helped Citadel Miniatures to get going, then absorbed it as a subsidiary, and finally made it a brand within GW.

All best
