An important point worth making about the protect baterry setting that tops out the charging at 85%. These phones are now using LiPo batteries instead of Li-Ion, which has a different chemistry and makes this setting much more relevant. Li-Ion are much less sensitive to this, but LiPo batteris are actively degraded by being either fully charged or fully discharged for extended periods of time. The way most people leave their phone on a charger overnight has the potential to significantly reduce the capacity over the life of a LiPo battery if you let it charge all the way to 100% routinely. As you stated, turning this off for days when you will need every bit of that battery does no real harm, but daily charge cycles that leave the phone at 100% for hours at a time will definitely add up. I've had to learn a lot about this working with high performance LiPo batteries for my drone builds. The ones in our phones don't have anywhere near the same output capacity, but they are essentially the same chemistry.

if you want to save battery dont let it go under 20% either, draining a lithium battery is not good for it. best is to keep it between the 20% and 85%
