A federal judge is ordering the owners of a south Sacramento strip mall to make it safer after the city of Sacramento filed a lawsuit. Last week, Judge David Brown granted an injunction against Lotus Investment Partners, the owner of the Evergreen Shopping Center on Mack Road and Center Parkway. The shopping center is located in City Councilmember Larry Carr’s district. He said the overwhelming concern about safety at the plaza caused the City of Sacramento to file suit against the property owners. Get the full story in the video above.

The shops and the owners of the complex pay taxes to the city and the city wants to sue the shopping center because the police can’t do their job? Wtf type of BS is this? Can we sue the city if we feel like our street is dangerous?

Someone really expects someone making 15/hour to risk their lives? 😂 @15/hr I’ll call 911 after they are done with you.

wow is this real life? How is it a business's responsibility to prevent crime from occurring? And lets say the owners hire a bunch of armed security, who actually try to stop crime as it occurs. The city will turn around and sue them for terrorizing "innocent" civilians.

Now it’s the business owners fault that criminals comment crimes there😂😂😂.

That’s a city problem and responsibility, you’d better do your job or you’re going lose more businesses and have blighted paved wastelands

I spent some of my best times up in that little strip mall.. Getting crazy bread from Little Caesars and playing Punch Out at 7-Eleven. That was a long time ago though..

I remember how safe and nice this center used to be. We would go to Little Caesars and order a Big Foot and Crazy Bread. The rental video store was just a few stores down. We would pick our favorite movies and hit it home. This was around 1991.

Sacramento has the habit of having pay phones removed if they get used to call police too much like at Oak Park Market!!!

This is crazy! Shouldn’t it be the city’s responsibility to increase police presence there? You people who support defunding police.

Must not be paying enough into the cities' protection racket. Tribute must be paid one way or the other. Taxes or campaign contributions you make the choice.

I personally feel safe at that strip mall, I bring my kids there. Security would help in the evening hours but during the day it’s not that bad. But I did grow up across the street from here ...
