Aphasia does not effect the movement of your ‘speech muscles’ eg tongue, lips, coodination with breathing - this would be a motor speech disorder such as dysarthria or Apraxia of Speech. Aphasia (as better described in the written summary) affects the language centres of the brain. When they are not functioning as they should aphasia can present as: not finding words, getting sounds mixed up, not knowing what a word means, as well as possibly affecting reading and auditory comprehension or writing
