Me and 5 others from the Skyway Misfits out of Tampa went out on a middle grounds trip 6/9. We all took our Talica’s and had a proud moment looking at our setups leaned up against the wall before taking off. Awesome day with a limit of STUD ARS, Nightmarish Gag Grouper (my buddy Jay slayed a 35lb gag with ease), Scamp and Red Grouper. This was the first big water trip with my Tali and I was not at all disappointed. Ripping fish out of 250ft of water with the ability to crush crank through some of the meanest bottom fish I’be dealt with in a while. The sheer power of these reels is uncanny to anything I’ve seen. They are WELL worth every red cent.

Thats a great reel…Unfortunately i got a killer deal on Penn torque series that i couldn’t refuse. Own a pair of 40n and a pair of 25n. Congrats on your new reel!

20ii has same gearing and drag specs with no need to fill 1000 yds of line.. for me bottom fishing 600yds is more then sufficient. love the talicas all we rock

I don't have the Talica 25 but I do have the Talica II 12/16 and 20. My first big run was Guadalupe Island Baja Mexico where you catch the big Yellow fin Tuna. This was my first long range fishing trip and I caught a 86 pound Yellow Fin Tuna. I was using 50 pound faughthook in me for the next five years. The next 3 or 4 years were my Wahoo trips using the same Talica II 20. Two speed reels are the only way to go and Talica fits the bill.

Drug up a gorgeous Red Snapper this season. 36" long. Almost 20#. The reel never broke a sweat and after we set the drag, the fish couldn't gain any more ground.

You might change your mind if you compare this Talica 25II to Daiwa Saltiga 60II 2020 model. They are almost same size . 5 years warranty on Daiwa. Metal T-bar handle much better than rubber on Talica. Not easy to get scratches like Talica. Just saying :)).

I had a 25, was the best reel I’ve owned. I can’t believe I sold it to a friend. I was kinda big for my uses. Ended up with a International 16 VISX, because of the drag setting between free spool and 1. Talica 25 doesn’t have that setting. But I will say, my next reel will be the Talica 16, it will work with anything I have caught to this point. I have caught basically everything bottom fishing with the 25 and it never failed in 5 years.

Almost every custom boat is rocking talicas on custom sticks for trolling. The talica BFC is used by almost every tournament sailfish/ white marlin team out there. Shimano has fishing figured out. I think I like the tac 50 better for bottom fishing because the handle is bigger and you can get more torque on it.

I have four Talica 25’s and two Talica 20’s for trolling and bottom fishing. My only wish, Shimano would make a louder clicker. There is no mistaking when u have a run off on a Tiagra clicker. Great reels light and strong for getting the job done!

Saludos a Cpt Chris....I met Cristobal a few weeks ago in Miami, bought a TLD 30 from him lol.
Dude I fished a 100 lb swordfish with a Talica 50II a week ago, hand cranked it for almost an hour, great reel. I loved it because it has faster gearing than the Tiagras

I can agree but if your a guy trying to get into shark fishing but want something you could use for bottom fishing get a custom black okuma 30 lever drag, I love it and it'll handle a 11-12 foot tiger shark if u play it right, if your more focused on tuna and sharks then the makiara 30 2 speed is the same reel just a little bigger, 2 speed and more drag with a metal body

I have two of these set up w 80# power pro and paired on Star rods. I was red snapper fishing last year and kept having to pay the tax man. Put 80# floro leader on a big hook and the biggest bait I had. Tax man was approx. 8' bull shark (pretty sure bull anyway). The real handled him just fine! I however, felt like I had hooked the back of my truck and honestly, I'm not sure I ever wanna do that again! 😎 Love these reels and for the other comments, the Speedmasters are great too, especially at the price point!
