Isle of Skye Road Trip | Scotland
Показать описание
Follow me as I make the Isle of Skye road trip from Spean Bridge near Fort Williiam. On this Isle of Skye road trip I take in some of the wonderful sights along the way which I share in this video.
The Commando Memorial a A listed monument situated a mile outside of Spean Bridge dedicated to original British Commando Forces in World War II. Unveiled in 1952 it is one of Scotland's best known attractions with glorious views over the surrounding mountains such as the Grey Corries, Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor. Here take in the sound of bagpipes playing Flower of Scotland.
The "secret" viewpoint was happened upon when I got chatting to a local who was in his 80s. I took a walk with him and he directed me to the wonderful viewpoint overlooking Loch Lochy and across into Loch Arkaig.
Invergarry Castle is a ruined castle which is sectioned off because it's dangerous to enter. It was once the seat of the Chiefs of the Clan MacDonell of Glangarry.
Loch Loyne viewpoint is on the side of the A87 with wonderful views over the length of Loch Loyne. It was not one to be missed whilst I drove along that road. There is also another viewpoint further up the A87 which gave tremendous views over the Loch Cluanie and once again not a view to be just driven past in the car on the way to Isle of Skye.
It was then onto Eilean Donan Castle made famous in many a film such as Highlander. It's situated at the head of 3 Lochs (Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh) on a small tidal island. It's connected to the mainland by a footbridge and is probably the most photographed castle in the whole of Scotland
It's then making the way across the Skye bridge to Kyleakin where I visit the war memorial viewpoint. This viewpoint gives a view over to the Skye bridge and out the back to views across to the ruined Caisteal Maol.
It's then a stop at Sligachan where resides Sligachan Old Bridge built by Thomas Telford between 1810 and 1818. From here you get awesome views over to the Black Cuillins and Marsco whilst taking in the flowing waters of the River Sligachan.
Finally it's a stop by the largest town on the Isle of Skye, Portree where I take a visit to the Apothecary's Tower on The Lump to get panoramic views over Portree harbour and to Old Man of Storr in the distance.
The video then concludes with some teaser trailers of my future videos when I visit the summit of the Munro Bla Bheinn, hike up to the Old Man of Storr, hike the Quiraing and much more.
