I have tremendous respect for character actors. They understand the business, they understand themselves (many of them are not possessed of star-quality looks), and they are content to be working regularly in their preferred field while not always garnering the spotlight and the big roles. Nevertheless, their contributions are essential to the success of every production. My favorite character actor is Mary Wickes, who had a decades-long career playing the sharp-tongued busybody in many movies and TV shows. She defined that type of character. There's something to be said for staying in your lane.

Stephen Root was also Bill on King of the Hill, Finn's Dad on Adventure Time, and Jimmy James on News Radio. One of my favorite hobbies is pointing him out to people every time I hear his voice, or see him on screen. He is a massively talented actor, and I know his name well.

Vincent Schiavelli was one of my favorite character actors. I remember, he had a very small part in the movie Amadeus, and yet managed to make a lasting impression! He was in a ton of movies, but even I, as a fan, never knew his name till now. His physiognomy was so unique, and his talent and presence so captivating, that his name almost didn’t matter. RIP

I LOVE the careers of the popular but unknown actors!!! Some of them are SUPER talented, more-so than popular actors, but unfortunately, due to their looks or age, are no where near the height of fame. Thanks for highlighting some of the many performers who deserve more recognition. 👏🏻

I’m a little surprised there’s no mention of Gary Cole as Mike Brady, but great list. And you forgot Larry Drake - played everything from the developmentally delayed in “L.A. Law” to the psychopathic in “Darkman”.

If you don’t know Luis Guzmán you haven’t been paying attention especially with his role in Carlitos Way. I’ll admit I didn’t know Goggins name until recently. His classic body of work has warrant me finally taking the time to remember his name and I’m sorry it took me so long smh.

Loved Schiavelli. As a kid his role as that spirit in the subway creeped the hell outta me in Ghost. Plus loved his guest appearance role in The X-Files.

Judy Greer also did fantastic work in the early 1990's and 2000's with movies like _Cursed_ and _Jawbreaker_ where she starred alongside better known names like Christina Ricci and Rose McGowan. Just a little movie trivia for y'all.

Christopher McDonald (shooter mcgavin from Happy Gilmore) Everyone always recognizes him because he always plays a funny antagonist in every movie he’s in. Yet no one knows his name. Very underrated.
