The Sumerians didn't only invent the wheel, they also invented written language. At least, they were one of the first cultures to figure out how to use a writing system. The cuneiform script was invented in Mesopotamia back in 3200 BC and is the only system of writing in the world that can be traced back to its origin. The first forms of writing weren't for stories or newspapers, but for recording and counting goods for trade. Merchants needed a way to keep track of their shipments, so they evolved from recording goods using clay tokens to pictography, then eventually to a fully-fledged alphabet.

Egypt, China were among several civilizations that developed written languages around the same time. Languages were developed in several different ancient cultures around the same time.

Thank you for the concise descriptions you give. Very understandable and interesting. The chisel shot😂 threw me for a bit though! 😂 ❤keep up the interesting info. You’re doing what newspapers and magazines used to. Exploring and researching so things you talk about are put in a context that ppl can identify and sort.

That's not even close to no type of first writings.
Tablet a and tablet b come from before ancient Sumerians
or specifically something before Egypt or India

That's absurd. Just because it's the only one you've found doesn't make it the oldest.

It's not an alphabet and that's not a trivial distinction.
