Be careful with the third brake light. Aftermarket units leak water almost guaranteed. I suggest putting LED equivalent bulbs in the third brake light cargo lights and the backup lights.

Hey Granger! I have a 2003 2500 just like yours. Sadly only has the 6.0 but still bullet proof. It had 98, 000 miles on it. There are so many things I want to do with it but two things I want to do is one get a cold air intake and two get a turbo or a bigger one for you. Still think in the 20 some years they been out still the best built truck out there. You are going to have an amazing adventure!

You can replace the factory bulbs with leds. That’s what I did in my 05 and made the reverse a lot better. Also tossed led pods beside the hitch under the bumper. That was the best for lighting up behind me. Another thing you can do for more light is to swap out the mirrors for 15-19 GM tow mirrors with the back up lights in them. Those work well as well. Just a few different ideas to ponder.

You sound like my grandson with his 98 Dodge Ram 1500 that belonged to my husband who babied it from the day he bought it, he kept a log of everything he ever did to it. When he passed away in 2021, grandson took over it's care. ♥️ It makes me happy that he loves it as much as his Poppy did.

Love the truck granger!! I got the same year and I got a set of Seat Design seat covers on it and they’re nice!!! Look kinda stock because of the color but will protect your originals !!

First things I did with my 06 was changed everything out for led, you can get the little interior bulbs that are led to and for the box I was thinking about doing putting rock lights in it and wiring it to the factory switch

I had the same seats in my 2004 HD 4x4. Loved the cloth seats and the truck was super comfortable.

I had a lbz duramax so the 06-07 classic. I would update every bulb to LED. They make bulbs that plug into the factory sockets. Look at a company called headlight revolution, you can call them and talk to them.
On the motor I would actually upgrade the Y Bridge, hot side and cold side intercooler pipes and intake get the truck to breath. Look at either HSP or WCFab. I would run hsp. I would also put a lift pump on the truck to relieve the stress thats on your high pressure injection pump getting fuel to your injectors. With that I would add ported fuel fittings and a race plug to ensure there is enough fuel getting to your injectors.
Also I would upgrade your mirrors to tow mirrors. I had the ones that boost auto makes for the truck complete plug and play and they look like the mirrors that came on the 2016 to 20 trucks I absolutely loved the mirrors blind spot was pretty much non existence.
Also another thing that I learned is upgrading your front end of the truck for better handling. Look at a company called kryptonite.
I am passing on everything that I learned to when I had my duramax. I wanted my truck to be as reliable as.

I have an 05 LT gas non-4x4. Upgraded all the lights inside and out with LEDs and outside lenses replaced. Same color except mine has the paint falling off/faded. Wish I could send a pic or you could see mine. You'd LOVE it. Reverse lights are LED and BRIGHT. No issue to see backing up. Plus I added a wireless backup camera and replaced the power/cigarette plugs with USB plugs. It's lifted 4 1/2 inches on 265/70/17 Anthem Offroad Intimidator rims and Nitto Terra Grappler tires. LOVE IT. Love the old cat eye Chevy. 128.000 miles.

You should get the ceramic tint, you can't tell there is any tint on it from the inside but no one can see in from the outside. Also get all leds for everything, they help tremendously, and if you want better back up bulbs get all new taillights because that would help even more. and you should put a ranch hand front replacement bumper on it

In 2017 I bought a 2007 Dodge Durango with 113, 000 miles on it. Came pretty stocked, big tires, tow n haul. No cassette player, but CD. Hitch and the plug ins. Today it has 136, 000 miles. Put brand new tires on it a year ago. But love it, have thought of trading it off as it is a big SUV and not great gas mileage, but for me makes me feel safer in a bigger SUV. I feel like I am in the cab of a truck. Glad you found a truck with lower miles, and in good condition.
