Nice are you gona sell it or keep it? I do recommend if you keep it you should 100% jailbreak it with CFW (Custom firmware) so you can install any game for free, and seen as it's a phat model (the best model) you can run ps2 games on it too!

All that dust build up probably kept over heating the console so instead of taking it apart and cleaning it the person just sold it as broken. I recently got a Gameboy color off ebay for pretty cheap because they said it was untested/for parts. Got it in the mail popped a game and some batteries in it and sure enough it worked perfectly fine.

I would recommend if you have the money to get that thing a RSX swap as the original models had a problem of nuking themselves.

1.change the fan with more big(more blade ps3 fan)
2.change Thermal paste with the most expensive(i mean the most extremely good or even better than any cheap brand😅👍)
3. cut a hole/drill it(optional) Ps3 need more breathing port/vent i trim the hell of my ps3 fat case every upper an vent corner are trimmed and the back was drilled to the point that the case much lighter after i mods it

4.(very optional) install Liquid cooling mods for ps3(watertank, radiator, waterpump etc..😂)
