Australia is pretty interesting for prices. Billies and Gloriosums have hit big box now. I bought both of my large specimens for $20aud each. Thais are still $200~ for small-medium size specimens when they rarely crop up at big box (cheaper to buy from FB marketplace sellers for a node or two with a leaf). We don’t really get a lot of super exotic stuff, and it’s usually expensive or small.

im a grocery store florist and we get "rare plants of the month" weve had pink princesses, white wizards, white knights, ficus shiverana, ring of fires, thai constellations, florida ghosts, verrocosum, and next month is holameana (SP? from memory) camouflague

Kroger grocery just got the ring of fire. Decent size for I think $29 and they have the philodendron P. verde same price unless on clearance then they can be $7.50 😅

I’m hoping to find a philodendron gloriosum decently priced. I found the summer glory at Lowe’s for about $26 not long ago maybe a month or so but still on the hunt for the gloriosum 😊

I found a juvenile philodendron el choco red for 25$ at a nearby nursery. It is putting out some larger leaves now!

I can’t believe anyone would pay $500 for a plant, but I guess people do. This crazy thing with the internet popularity driving prices up - it’s still just a plant. I got a good sized Pink Princess about a month ago for less than $20 at a local garden center. Ring of Fire is around $70 at a plant boutique near me, great to see its now more widely available at a reasonable price. After the craze for a certain plant dies down, the prices go back to normal. I’ll wait!
