What is berberine?

Berberine is a phytochemical found in several Berberis genus plants, including barberry and Oregon grape.

Clinical trials have shown that berberine supplementation can significantly reduce fasting blood glucose levels.

Its effectiveness is comparable to some pharmaceutical drugs used for managing diabetes, such as metformin.
