Finally an American who understands the difference. We're not socialists, our economy is capitalist!🇨🇦

But why do people insist on conflating democracy and capialism? One is political system, the other is economic. Demonstrative of the failure of education.

Social democracy is also used by us demsocs as a transitional period and many social democratic movements support eventual democratic socialism but the main priority in fixing people’s lives is something like healthcare and not their relation to the means of production

This is what social ownership looks like; "In the 11 years since then, Evergreen Cooperatives has added three more cooperatives to its ranks, growing from two companies with a total of 18 workers in 2010 to five companies with approximately 320 workers. Those workers are paid 20 to 25 percent higher than employees at the cooperative’s competitors. “Our average pay rate is close to $15, ” says John McMicken, CEO of Evergreen Cooperative Initiative. “But when you take profit sharing into account, which could equate to $4 to $5 an hour, we’re hoping that we have a shot at breaking the $20 an hour ‘blended rate, ’ if you will.” In 2019, the average compensation at Evergreen Cooperative Laundry was around $18 per hour." - Despite a Rocky Start, Cleveland Model for Worker Co-ops Stands Test of Time, by Brandon Duong

True, political science is not the strong suit of the electorate, which is why politicians keep it simple, and in this day and about all that most of them can do

The way nordic countries work with private industry is they go hand in hand. Norway for example a large portion of oil is owned by the state but there are still private companies. Nordic model seems like the best Western system in existence

They don't let private industry take over, but they also don't control everything. A mix of the two seems to work

A republican would have to watch this clip 500 times still probably wouldn't understand it.

I've always been in favor of a pragmatic system where capitalism is regulated so as to be a benefit for everyone, and the wealthy are subject to high marginal taxation. We've been closer to that in the past, but it's been destroyed since corporations were ruled as persons and allowed to bribe politicians.

Madge calls us 'communists'. This really isn't a scary word anymore; not that she has any idea what it means and why it isn't scary.

Democratict socialism belives that ultimately the private ownership should be absolutely abolished, where Social democracy belives in heavy regulation of Capital but not absolute abolishing of private property. Is this a correct analysis?

Democratic socialism is when the citizens actually put money into the system but it comes back to help them instead of going towards corporations

The ignorance of Americans on this issue is profound. Almost 60 years ago in High School I became aware of the political systems in West Europe. I was never able to convince a single person that the USA was the same but without all the benefits of Healthcare & Education. West Germany is still capitalist! Never got anywhere: This started in 1966.
