And that's why Bernie Sanders is not technically a democratic socialist. He is a social democrat. The sense in which Bernie Sanders is a democratic socialist is that he is takes on the label of "socialist" in the sense that Republican fearmongers have used the word, and embraces it. But their fearmongering has gone so far as to call simple social democracy "socialism."

Already him saying we've socialized the military is misleading. The military is a public good, meaning it isn't rivalrous nor excludable during its use. That's different from socializing something that is subject to supply and demand.

The military is intrinsically social.

Another thing that socialists do is act like the universal doesn't exist. Meaning just because you claim the people will own something, the people are parts to a whole, and the whole will need to elect people to represent it even if it's only something like a speaker of the house, but that leads to the same problems as before; who will hold those elected people accountable? You cannot get rid of hierarchy.

Yeah but guess what davey. In social democracies like the Scandinavian countries. Your income is taxed at 52%. I dont think you would like that being applied to those stocks you value in tesla.

Socialism vs Social Democracy - under socialism there is no (nada, full stop, no exceptions) private property of means of production that assume or need any hired labor, like a decent farm or a factory, or anything that would allow you to collect rent - like an apartment building. You can still have personal property though - like a pair of socks or an aluminum spoon and a pick or shovel, and, of course one can always own a hammer or a sickle - for personal use.

This should be translated to all languages and point to all those who cannot distinct one from another. Trump supporters, former Soviet people, etc.

We use 19th century words for 21st century ideas. This is his definitions but there are other definition that are pretty different and are still valid. We need to update the vinacular.

So the difference is democratic socialism is actual socialism and social democracy is a stepping stone to actual socialism.
