Hey guys, in this video, I’ll be sharing my honest review of the Capital One Venture X after using it for 1 year. We’ll start by covering the total value I earned from the welcome offer, then get into Capital One’s application rules, break down the points I earned spending on the card outside of the welcome offer, discuss the cons of the Venture X, and finally summarize the total value I earned from the card over the last year as well as the expected value I’ll get from the card in years to come. All of this information will help me determine what’s next for this card and whether or not I want to keep or cancel the Venture X. Throughout this video, I hope to answer the question of whether or not the Capital One Venture X is still worth it. If you’ve been wondering “Is the Capital One Venture X worth the hype?” or “Should I apply for the Capital One Venture X?” this video is for you.

As long as we get the 300 travel credit and 10k points every anniversary for paying $395 a year, this cards a keeper for me. All others nerfs probably won’t make me cancel the card
I am still in my first year and have so far taken 2 international trips and I love having this card as my zero Freon transaction fee, catch all card over sees and while at home! The priority pass access is just the cherry on top 🔥🔥😌

Love the in-depth overview of the Venture X here Spencer! Capital One definitely has really strict application rules that prevents a lot of people further in their CC Journey's from getting the Card, and the incremental devaluation like you touched on with Hertz President's Circle Status being removed as an example, definitely can be worrisome for what they are going to do next. Totally makes sense that you want to keep it long-term, as it's such an easy Card to get positive value from. As a side-note, even though Lucia got denied for the Card recently, I recently did the Venture X pre-approval tool and was approved (probably since I have low personal credit inquiries with only getting Business Cards last year), so I think it might just be the next Card I get, to lock it in before it's too late. Great video Spencer!

In my opinion, their transfer partners are on par with Amex. Airline alliance booking for domestic flights is so much more superior than direct booking. You can book flights anywhere in US for 7500 points via Turkish miles smiles, or whatever it’s called lol

I got approved last year during the 90k bonus and I’m very far into the credit game. I have a ton of cards in my portfolio and was still approved. I’m guessing they have relaxed it from only getting it early in credit card game.

Unfortunately my experience trying book flights, the choices on the travel portal are limited. Many flights are unavailable. My search was for full retail First Class ticket not some basic economy ticket. I had to book my flight through the airline. I was able to apply miles to pay for the charge. However I was not able to use the annual travel credit or get the 5x miles. Since I have had the card they nerfed the priority pass, the travel credit and will soon do away with the hertz status. Having only a portion of flight options is a HUGE disappointment. Capital One customer service says there will always be some flights unavailable on there portal ( i.e. the better options). Very disappointing.

how much did you spend last year to get the 19K points?

As someone who lives in northern Va, it is the perfect card with frequent flying and the new lounge at Dulles. Everytime I have booked travel, I have also received travel credits if the price dropped within 10 days.

I got the Venture X last year and then got the Savor One last month. The ability to get 3x back on restaurants, groceries, and entertainment with the Savor One, and then convert those cashback dollars into miles on the Venture X card is a MASSIVE play that I've been enjoying recently. And booking everything in cash on the Venture X within the travel portal to get 5x or 10x points, and then using the purchase eraser tool to back-cover the expenses is a great tip. The purchase eraser tool also works for uber and lyft travel payments, which is pretty cool. Loved this deep dive analysis on the Venture X, hopefully they don't keep messing around with the benefits too much by removing value instead of maintaining/adding to it.

I feel like having the venture x and the sapphire preferred would be a better choice than to just have the Reserve, lower AF and similar benefits

Just know that I watched several videos on this card trying to decide if I was going to get it and your video is BY FAR the BEST video out there!! Thank you! Keep it up please ❤

I think you can justify the card just for the Visa Infinite Benefits since it's basically effective annual fee neutral. Throw in the lounge access and "Catch All" category and its a nice card even if you set up doesn't feature it. But the value grows exponentially when you add the savor one. Great Video - and i feel like the purchase eraser feature is almost as good as cash back on a small scale.

Never really want the venture x because its rewards are too portal heavy. Plus, they are not gonna like me😂.

Great video! I remember watching one of your previous videos about the Gold+Venture X combo which solidified my application for the C1X! Being based out of DFW has been clutch because that lounge is SWEET. The 2x catch all aspect has been great as well. And honestly just even 1 trip through the portal makes it worth it (travel credit + anniversary miles).

Great review of the VX Spencer! One day I'll apply for the VX, but it's definitely lower on my list for exactly the reasons you explained concerning the application rules for those who are further along in their credit card journey! Maybe I'll get it in a few years when they change the $300 travel portal credit to only being eligible for flights.

Card will forever be overrated for locking you into a portal. Not worth the risk when flights get moved and hotels are overbooked

All due respect the transfer partners are not limited if you're someone who travels overseas anywhere from one to three times a year Capital One is by far the way to go. Especially if you travel to Asia. So I think it depends on the person but in all honesty why on earth would you be racking up miles to travel domestically anyways

Just got approved for this card last night and whew now I can focus on the Savor One later this year. I did get greedy and applied for the Boundless card shortly after and I’m under review. I haven’t done business with Chase before so I’m guessing that’s normal?

I got approved on savor one a few days ago. I already had platinum and venture x so the 2 cards rule is not true in my case

FWIW, I had no issues getting approved with a >800 credit score and many cards. Got the card because the net value is $5 and the IAD lounge is quite nice.
