I have a buddy who’s been riding for 30 years and the orca is his daily. I personally don’t ride mine daily, but if I wanted to it would always be fun on the mountain. For anyone who is interested in getting one but hesitates because they think it’s not versatile, no. Still one of the funnest decks I have on or off piste

Got this for my daughter. The Cortado didn’t have all the gas she wanted BUT the he Dynamiss had too much. Also her feet are big so she’s got the width. Seems a nice in between. Thanks!

Just rode this board for a week at Sun Valley. Groomers, pow, steep ice, bumps, everything in between. I enjoyed it so much the first day I bought it.

definitely more fun in pow. that rocker in between the bindings felt squirrely in harder conditions

Thanks for the honest review.

You're right about the hype train on this particular board. I was wondering how this directional board would actually perform on groomers, particularly for people who like to ride switch.

The fact that it has a milder camber is the back kind of tells you it's meant to go down T.Rice land (backcountry steeps).

I just bought the orca split ride it on a fluffy powder day. I gotta say it was very fun to whip around do some drops and surf side hits. I can see how it falls short as an all mountain. Lib tech/gnu Mervin boards never seem to be that durable at all. There are soft and playful but get dinged up quick. I got it at a good price so I’m happy to put it through the wringer. Almost went out and bought the shorter solid orca, but am holding off for now to see if I can get my hands on a nice capita or something more well built

Interesting how the first 3 years this board was out everyone on the internet was loving it. Now everyone seems to be shitting on it. Even this channels review 5 years ago was saying this board was great even for carving and general all mountain. I was looking to get this as a second board but im hesitant now, I want to have fun in the back country when we do get fresh pow but also want to carve down the resort.

I've been liking my 2024 Orca for tree pow. I'm 175-160lbs, about 5'10" and almost got a 153 but decided to downsize since I have a Satori Camber in 154. Still floats great the conditions I've taken it to, but that's Idaho/MT, not AK or CO. Just a data point for others considering downsizing. I think it works great for pow. Agree that it's not good as a daily driver.

Rode his board all last season as my daily driver. After the first two carves with it, I was like okay this board feels good. My only issues with it is the back kind of feels like its going to wash out sometimes with how short it is and its no good switch.

Rome Service Dog is super underrated. Great Party board.

Some people enjoy acting like the dynamo isn’t a much better daily driver

I don't really care about the Internet opinion so the hype/hate doesn't matter, I ride what works for me. 80% of my days are soft snow and these boards are so damn fun in the trees and powder that i have no interest in anything else for most of my riding.

Icy? It's not great...it's skid for life to some degree but it's manageable.

What i do need though is something just as fun but doesn't feel like a noodle in the spring with slush. The flex on this board wants to toss you when it loads up heavily and then releases. Doesn't have enough stiffness to power through. I don't do much Park any more, just cruising with the friends finding natural hits. Recommendations?

I use this, the lib rig and the shadowban. This one I only use in powder, even though it has magnetraction, it doesn’t really handle ice/hard pack as well as the lib rig imo. It feels more noodly.

These are an all mountain board that does fine on ice. They are a lot like a Super Pig but with magnetraction. No they're not good at park, no you won't want to ride switch on them. They can do literally everything else.

For those in the back…. ITS A FUCKIN POW BOARD.

Curious how similar the service dog is in its ability to turn quickly in tight trees as the orca does, had the orca and sold it which I now regret so was hoping the rome may be a good alternative for cheaper . Thanks

Saw your top 5 underrated boards and the Rome Warden sounded awesome. Currently riding a 24 evil twin and I love how it feels in the park and to mess around with, But I want something that can get me through icy areas in the SouthEast and keep me stable at high speeds. Would the warden be an alright pick?

I don't want to like this board it is hard not to. I rotate/refresh my quiver in the regular and this board always makes the cut. It is fun to me in all conditions save for hard ice. Shines in pow but will rip a groomer once you get used to how loose it can ride.
