I think the first lake with all the skeletons was an old burial ground. Strange place to cart bodies though, when they can be cremated or buried much more easily elsewhere. You would think there’d be records of it too. I’ve heard of a place on Everest called Rainbow Valley, where lots of people who died on the mountain have been placed. But as this lake wouldn’t have anywhere near enough foot traffic as Everest, that theory doesn’t really hold up.

Have you ever heard the story of Alexander the Great? History says he conquered almost the entire Persian empire, which did span across through the Himalayan mountain range. So some of those skeletons could be Greek soldiers, who were passing on their way through the Himalayas, who died of hypothermia or total exhaustion, due to not being prepared enough for those hikes. And if they weren’t prepared enough for the long hike, they probably left behind along the way some of their weapons and gear just so they could cut down on weight. That could explain why you barely see any weapons in this lake. 11:10

i think it was one weather incident and also people were burying their dead people's bodies in there that's why they are from different time periods because as you said the lake protects bodies from being destroyed

I've visited the boiling lake before. It is a six hour hike and boy was i tired. We have to climb high heights and then go down a steep valley. The up and down is what gets you. The paths are usually slippery as it always rains. The duration is worth it though. But I don't think I'll go back there.

i have a theory about roopkund, i think that some people slipped and bounced down the mountain (kinda also explaining the giant dents in the skulls) and they died and decomposed so only the skeleton is left

logical explanation is the same story for every lake in indonesia. Where its used to be a village but some water squirt out from the ground then it turns into lake then the lake freeze and it all happed when they're asleep

My personal theory is that some of the skeletons were from people who tried to travel via the Silk Road, but got lost and ended up in Roopkund
