This is how you make a trailer without giving away the plot.

Finally, something that's not action, space, (x) man, trilogy, or a remake.

That is one intense trailer. And Viola Davis completely overshadowed Denzel Washington in that scene.

That scene alone should give Denzel an Oscar nod

That scene with his son is a typical depiction of how African parents express love lol no touchy feely but deeper demonstration of love through provision etc

Denzel showing his range. That was some emotional speech he delivered.

These dialogues in a TRAILER gave me goosebumps and that emotional speech at the end almost made me tear up. So I can't wait what the movie does to me!

Viola always knows how to take me to that emotional place. That's why she will always be my favorite actress.

Denzel is incapable of starring in any movie that doesn't turn into a box office hit. I've seen just about every movie he's ever starred in and to date, he remains my favorite of all times. The man is unstoppable.

I love these kinds of trailers. You have a main scene play out with snappy dialogue and wraps up. Boom! A trailer is born.

Speaks to a generation of post WW2, working class black families that were stuck in menial jobs, no Social Security, no housing benefits, no GI veterans benefits in those days for black people. Even unions were racist and cliquish back then headed up by Irish, Italian looking after their own.

Men in those days came home tired, harassed and just wanted a hot meal, peace and quiet. There was no "parenting" per say other than doling out beatings. My father never had a loving, close, communicative relationship with his father either, just militant obedience to a man who was breaking his back and facing injustice, hardship and inevitable knowledge he would live and die in the same position in life and he would not see the mountaintop in his lifetime, the only thing he could do is try to give his kid a shot at a better life.

Thankfully that sacrifice meant my dad was able to go to college, get more opportunities, move up and out of those working class, factory worker projects before all the manufacturing jobs dried up and left those still stuck there in poverty. If you did not get out of those projects in the 1980s, you were stuck there. Thankfully, my dad and his siblings got out and were able to afford their parents some comfort in their later years, move them to a nicer neighborhood, buy them appliances, vacations etc as a way of showing gratitude for the sacrifices made.
