For me Rogue One pulled off the miraculous feat of making Star Wars A New Hope even better. Contriving the exhaust port as an act of sabotage rather than stupidity... beautiful. And Darth Vader at the end... Oh, that's why folks are terrified of him. 😊

Rogue One ranks up there with the best Star Wars films. It perfectly capture the aesthetics of the Star Wars universe and fits very well with the OT. And of course that amazing ending which seamlessly leads us into A New Hope.
It's something The Force Awakens did well, despite being so derivative. It felt like a SW movie and something that TLJ went away from, feeling more like a Marvel film. Andor, despite having some of the same writers, felt more like watching an HBO Max drama with a thin coat of Star Wars paint over it.

Rogue One shows that you can make a really good Star Wars movie with interesting characters and story that doesn't fallback on nostalgia, or have epic Jedi vs Sith battles, plus makes a good prequel to A New Hope in how the rebels got a hold of the Death Star plans.
