What should you do with a broken rosary or Holy item? Don't throw them away and do this instead.

From @uCatholic

"Sacred objects, which are designated for divine worship by dedication or blessing, are to be treated reverently and are not to be employed for profane or inappropriate use even if they are owned by private persons.” – Code of Canon Law 1171

In showing proper reverence, Catholic tradition simply states blessed items that are broken or damaged should be burned or buried. After an item has been burned, its ashes should also be buried. If the item does not disintegrate into the Earth, such as plastic, it is acceptable to break apart the item then discard it appropriately. In the case of votive candles, if it is safe to do so they should be burned completely.

The tradition of returning blessed items to the Earth stems from the idea that an object sanctified in God’s name should be returned to God, much like the way a person is buried and returned to the earth.

While the tradition of returning objects to the earth stems back thousands of years, in 1874 the Sacred Congregation for the Rites and the Holy Office issued formal determinations on what proper disposal methods are for blessed items. Any linen, vestment, or altar cloth should be burned and the ashes buried. Excess or contaminated Holy Water should be poured directly into the ground. Palms should be burned, and the ashes used for Ash Wednesday with the excess buried. Similarly, a rosary or statue would be buried.

I was out walking and praying my rosary - I got something in my hiking boot and bend down to get it out and didn’t realise my rosary got hooked on my boot.
When I stood up my rosary broke - so knowing the rule around proper disposal (which I would have done if I hadnt been able to fix my rosary) I collected all the pieces. I was devastated when I couldn’t find one of the beads and asked St. Anthony to help me find it as I wanted to dispose of it properly if I was unable to find it.
Was so glad I found that tiny black bead in amongst all the grass, branches, mud and fallen leaves and was actually able to sit and fix my rosary

I was in Assisi in the basilica St Mary of the Angels and my rosary’s broke.interiorly i said “I want to pray but how can I fix them?” immediately a white dove flew down and started pecking between the floor tile very vigorously until it exposed a small metallic object not previously visible and then flew back to nest in statue of St Francis. I pulled the object out and it was a safety pin and I was able to fix my rosary’s!
Try prayer first!

Rosary beads can be recycled to make new ones. Many churches accept beads collected and donated by volunteers and new ones are made from it. So you can collect the beads and give up someone who makes new rosary or sacred amulets.

I usher, and after Palm Sunday I pick up all the palm frays that I can find and they will be kept for next years ashes just like the whole palms that that faithful return to be burned for Ash Wednesday. Blessed is blessed no matter how small.

I did not think it would be that powerful that it seems to be. I bought my first rosary about a month ago and i have prayed once a week approx, and i have still noticed effects in my life. I just now connected the dots that it must be the rosary that helped me feeling more positive.
I am going to keep praying it and i recommend it to everyone.

My special rosary that my step dad got me from Malta just suddenly gave way one day and now the chain links won’t hold together securely. I have kept it in its little presentation box for the past 15 years because I don’t know what else to do with it. It was an absolute joy to use all these years throughout some of the toughest years of my life, and I feel sad that it’s just sitting there 😢

If you burn a sacramental, bury the ashes in a place they are unlikely to be distributed.

I love to share ❤
Roma's 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

The study of the gospel of
Matthew opens your heart and eye to the truth, condemned us specially when we think we are good.
The gospel of John teaches us that we MUST be borne again by the Spirit of God.
The gospel of John teaches that not all are God's children, only those that have been saved by Jesus and baptized by Him with the Holy Spirit ❤
God bless you ❤

Oh my gosh!!!!
I work for a charity thrift shop and sadly no one wants rosaries! I throw them
It breaks my heart while doing it and now I know why!
Never again!

Most of my items simply disappear. I like to say an angel or saint took them to someone else who needed them more than I did😁
