I used some of my heat shrinking tubing I had lying around, which shrink when they are heated. Works perfectly and it's not a fire hazard

Да какой же это "сломанный кабель? Сломанный кабель - это когда перебит провод или между проводами короткое замыкание. А кусок изоленты намотать - великое дело!😀

This is DANGEROUS! Wire inside might short circuit because it’s already damaged and your cell phone gets burned or worse it could be a fire hazard to your house. NOT WORTH THE RISK! Buy a new one, it’s not that expensive compared to buying a new phone if it burns due short circuit!

Я так же зафиксировала повреждённый кабель, но! Сделала небольшой нахлест на саму вилку. Это предотвратит от дальнейшего отрыва кабеля. Второй вариант изоляции более удачный!

Я так обматываю новый кабель, только без клея, и служит долго.

If that’s string, it’s a fire hazard. You need to use some kind of flexible plastic instead. The metal spring is also a bad idea. If it comes into contact with the wires—which it eventually will — you can get shocked. Don’t do this.
