It’s so strange to hear about people having grandparents who were Vietnam vets. I must be the odd one out, bc my grandfather was a WWII and Korean War vet who was still active duty but too old to be called to war again during Vietnam. My uncle was the Vietnam vet.

My poor grandmother was torn between being thrilled that my grandfather would be on another tour (since he had only recently returned from being stationed for a year in Goosebay, Labrador, Canada) and having her only son go off to war. My uncle made it back safely, but my grandmother ended up burying her husband in ‘12 and her son in ‘15, sadly, she herself passed a year ago this Nov 13th at 83.
