Perfectly captures the feel of Yakuza's over the top nature. Also having the halloween skeleton stand in for the X-ray blows was a great touch!

All the references I could find in this video.

0:30 - A reference to Kuze's fourth fight intro, where Kiryu punches him in the jaw, it plays the same noise too! It also has an X-Ray effect like in Mortal Kombat.
0:40 - Of course a reference to Dynamic intros, which are present in almost all the Yakuza games, this one is most likely just a street fight intro.
0:52 - The throw that Spy does is the Legend/Dragon Style grab throw animation.
0:55 - A ground Hact (Short for Heat Action) that is from YK2 and Y6, although the animation itself goes all the way back to Yakuza 3 I believe. The Hact activation noise is one from the Dragon Engine games (So YK2 and Y6)
1:01 - There is a long battle in Y0 where enemies will call in for more gooners and you have to beat them in a time limit or more will show up, In Y5 street enemies will have the ability to call in for more enemies, but I doubt this is the reference.
1:07 - Of course not everything is a reference, but just in case, Brass Knuckles are used by Kuze in his 3rd fight, aswell as Tomoshiro in Y3.
1:20 - Could be a reference to enemies in the newer Yakuza games having a Mortal Attack, an attack that does a shit ton of damage when hit, in Lost Judgment and LAD: Gaiden you have the ability to counter these attacks.
1:27 - A chop, which Majima has the ability to do as a counter in Y0, might not be a reference, but still thought of sharing.
1:39 - In Y6 and YK2, you can enter Heat Mode, where you are much stronger, sometimes when doing a finishing blow in this mode it will do a slowmo of you punching the enemy.
1:47 - This ones a stretch but this could be a reference to Dragon Engine, where enemies can ragdoll and hit into objects.
1:54 - This is of course the dynamic between Kiryu and Majima, as the Blu Spy has an eyepatch similar to Majima (On the same eye too) He also grins when he goes for a punch, which is some weird shit Majima likes to do, as he finds enjoyment in fighting Kiryu
1:59 - This could be a specific qte or dynamic intro, like Shinada Vs Daigo in Y5, but I'm pretty sure it's just Kostamoinen making his own thing.
2:06 - "What's the matter? Spy-chan!" Reference to Majima, as he likes to call Kiryu "Kiryu-chan"
2:17 - Blu Spy using a knife, much similar to Majima as he also uses one, called the Demonfire Dagger.
2:30 - This is an exact 1-1 recreation of Nishitani's QTE in Y0, very well done.
2:54 - Majima and Kiryu like smoking, which is present in a lot of the Yakuza games (Probably all of them actually)
3:06 - References the dance minigame in Y0, and the intro where Red Spy does the slide is an exact recreation of one in Y0
3:15 - Infact, all of the dances showcased are dances from the minigame.

There, I'm done.

As someone who's never played the Yakuza series, I'm going to take this parody as an accurate summarization. God bless you Kosta & Steaky.

The facial expression work is probably the highlight of the whole animation. Especially the moment when Majima-Spy shows up; they're two of the same model, but the wide, unhinged grins on Majima-Spy versus the irritated scowl that Kiryu-Spy wears gives off so much personality.

Man, the shorts format *_really_* did not make this justice; so many little details I just couldn't see until this came out.

And yet it did, and so christmas was saved; thank you Kosta, for sticking with the better format and blessing us with this gem.

1:08 "Come. We fight like men."
_Proceeds to pull out lethal weapons against an unarmed guy like half his size._ (IRL even regular blunt knuckledusters are very dangerous)

The 24+ FPS really sells the ultra-polished animation.

There is nothing about this animation that can be improved, it is already PERFECT.

I love the Majima/Nishitani knife catch moment, I love most of the yakuza's QTE being so well through out
Although I can sense the tf2 community using the ending part in memes for like 1 month non stop.
I love and hate this video already.

Woooowie. Job well done.

Engineer voiceline aside you did the Yakuza style perfectly from the fighting to blu spy basically being Majima. Excellent as always Kosta!

I love this! It’s animated well, the voice lines are used BRILLIANTLY and it’s not too gruesome either! Awesome stuff, dudes! 😄

At last, the non-Shorts version :D uninterrupted awesomeness! Amazing work on this, Kostamoinen. Seriously, you did a great job at emulating the style and flare of Yakuza.

Absolutely phenomenal! The sound effects feel appropriate and you perfectly nailed the ridiculous feel of Yakuza as a whole! I love how you added that little "Spy-chan" via sebtence mixing as well.

My only complain, small as it is, is that the grab at 1:45 felt like it lacked any significant weight behind it. That's literally it.

Easily one of your best works so far!
