These days if you dont smile at everyone they accuse you of giving them a hard stare or a dirty look. My mother told me that smiling at everyone makes you look an idiot.

Paddington Bear was the sweetest, kindest, and most polite bear cub, so a hard stare was reserved for people being rude. She didn't even give Judy hard stares who certainly deserved them for being embarrassed by Paddington at first.
