Ive never understood a hook sharpner if im honest.
Hooks are chemically sharpened, so surely filing a hook is changing the dynamics of what the manufacturer designed and made it to be?

But! There has
been kind of a foam they sold over here in Germany. Came from UK? Long ago. And as far as I can oversea (pun) it- thats the same principle.

You can't hone hooks to the absolute max with this. But thats not the point here.
It makes them work again.
Funny enough.
And if you really want to put the tip in: no special preparations needed. A touch of Vaseline will do.
