This song all comes together to defy all rules of music at that time ???, only a creative band head of it's time could pull it off, great song - great performance !

We have a well stocked fridge. Plenty of eggs, milk, pastry, asparagus, cheese, onions and herbs. We are only making flans for Nigel; nobody else.

He has his future in a British Steel. Great line. Pity that British Steel is no more now.

It's WORLD. In the song, young Nigel's parents are doing all the planning for his future, including work, so Nigel is more than likely either getting ready to leave school or has just left.

gotta love the tongue in cheek presentation, specifically terry's 'drum kit'. might as well have a little fun with that artless lip sync format. wouldn't have it any other way. just one more reason to love these guys.

Nigel Farage was only 15 in 1979, but they had plans...

Awhoohha! Hearing this on TOTP and the day after at school! Memoriezzze! (At this time in the UK, a future as factory fodder was a real, nightmarish, expectation - fuck that!). Awhoohha! Punk and new wave set us freee!

I had always thought it was WORLD. Having said that, I still like WORLD better. Thanks for the correction.

Colin Moulding stole George Harrison's haircut, Rubber Soul 1965

thanks for posting - great quality vid! when i was looking for this song, i had lyric sites come up, and i noticed they mostly have the lyrics as "happy in his WORK" - only one had "happy in his WORLD" - i always assumed it was "happy in his world" - does anyone know for sure what that line is?
