I honestly don't see how this stalled on the Country Airplay charts at #28. Sure, it's not one of Kenny's party/beach anthems, but a very relaxing song about lessons learned through the storms of life. It should've been bigger than its chart position, IMO.

I heard this song for the first time this morning on my way to work and actually had to pull over to collect myself.  I lost my 93 year old dad on October 23rd, and I have days when I don't think I can even breathe.  I spent every day with him for the past couple years, and he's been ready to go, so who knew the pain could be so completely consuming? Beautiful song, but I can barely listen to it.  Rest easy, Dad, I'll figure out what to do with myself one of these days, I promise.

This song really hits at home for me - the past couple of years have been very difficult. After 6 years of military service, I decided to separate instead of reenlist, because I got offered an amazing civilian job that paid very well. Been married for 7 years, and have the most amazing son. I thought things were lining up for me, and I was ready to settle down with my family. Keep in mind I LOVED what I did in the Air Force and had an amazing career. It was hard to leave. I bought a new house for my family and started my new civilian job. A few months later I got let go.... that was the beginning. I was devastated and very stressed, but eventually I found a new job, and we were going to be ok. Then I found out my wife was seeing other people.... we are currently in the process of divorce. So now I am still picking up the pieces of my life, and learning to balance my time with work and getting to have my son. My social life is still a mess, but is also getting better. I'm just trying to overcome the many regrets that has built up since. It is getting easier.

That being said, when I heard this song on the radio, it brought a tear to my eye, because it really hit home. I'm in the process of building a better boat, and am very positive and excited about the next chapter.

I lost my wife and best friend of 30 years back in September of 2018 (just a few weeks ago). I spent half of my life loving this woman. Cancer took her away. For three years she struggled with this disease. Most of the time, I thought and believed she was winning. I was wrong. Our daughter, Jennifer, heard this song and claimed it for me. Linda was my purpose. She is why I am where I am today. My purpose is gone. Some days is a struggle just to maintain. Other days are OK. I have yet to have a "good" day. My life has changed forever. I stay busy. I need to "Build a Better Boat".
