Bach was the greatest composer the world has ever known. Praises be to him. I am glad to hear all these good things about him.

Bach was Bach no matter who he actually was. We cannot be too grateful for him and his music.

I have both series 1 and 2 on DVD. Love this program! I can’t believe this was made in 2005 (makes me feel old)🤦‍♂️🤣.

Bach’s horizon was not fettered by a want of travel. He was able to understand enough of the world through his learning. By collecting and reading musical scores. He must have possessed an extraordinary sense of integrity and purpose to produce all he did without the normal attachments of parents or praise. Much of this probably owes also to a genuine faith. True genius doesn’t often conform to anything we would expect.

Given Bach's vast output, why do we have to listen to the "Air on the G string", THREE times?

19:30 How and why can such dramatic events of Bach’s life as his month long false imprisonment in Weimar, death of his first wife shortly after, harassment of life long witch hunt etc be cut out from biographical narrative ? What is the reason for these impactful on his music events to be of NO interest of his devotees, in order to have the true portrayal without distortion of what was most important for composer and his legacy?

Just enjoy what you enjoy from this outdated documentary about the great JSB and skip what you do not enjoy ... Your appreciation of it will not change anything about the greatness of one of very few composers who was blessed with a nearly divine inspiration which was founded in his divine faith ...
