Turkey's Decision Shook NATO and the US: What's Next?

The collaboration between Turkey and Russia on the Akkuyu nuclear power plant has raised significant concerns within NATO. This project, being developed under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model by Russia’s Rosatom, is seen as problematic within the alliance due to its potential strategic implications and the close ties it signifies between Turkey and Russia. NATO officials have indicated that Turkey's decisions, including the procurement of the Russian S-400 missile defense system and now the involvement in nuclear power with Russia, represent significant points of contention, highlighting broader concerns about Turkey’s alignment within the alliance and its increasing engagement with Russia.
Further complicating the situation is Turkey's interaction with China. Proposals for collaboration in nuclear energy development with China have also sparked concern within NATO, emphasizing a broader apprehensive view towards Turkey's geopolitical orientations and partnerships outside the alliance.
There are concerns that these collaborations could affect Turkey's military cooperation with NATO. Integration of critical systems, like air defense, which might become complicated with the introduction of Russian systems such as the S-400, could pose interoperability issues within NATO, affecting joint military operations and intelligence sharing.
These developments might strain Turkey's diplomatic relations with other NATO members, particularly the United States and European countries, which have traditionally viewed Russia and China as strategic competitors. The diverging interests could lead to friction within diplomatic channels and impact collective decision-making within NATO.

Turkey is a sovereign country and can make decisions that serve its best national interest. 👍👍👍

So let me get it straight, Turkey wanted to buy Patriot defense systems but was denied by US lobbies with the most bs reasons. In exchange, they bought the Russian system, which caused them to be kicked out of the F-35 program, which they already paid for and invested heavily. Then they started the Akkuyu nuclear plant, which had agreements that funds would not go to war, and payments would begin a decade later. Moreover, most critical parts were being bought in EU countries such as Germany, which held the part hostage unlawfully and stalled the plant's construction for months, making Turkey make a deal with China to buy the same parts. But somehow, Turkey is the problem?

EU can go to hell, I have never seen more hypocritical and clown organizations in my life. That's why the world started to side with China; they just want to do business without giving a duck about your culture or inner workings.

Real definition of good and bad. Whatever powerful person or a country does or wants to be done is good, and if a weaker person or country does not follow the orders then that is bad and condemnable

The EU and NATO have been playing Turkiye and the rest of the Balkans as fiddles. Good on Turkiye for finally deciding that enough is enough. I wish the rest of the Balkans follows suit.

Much love to Turkiye, from Macedonia.

Greece bought the S-300 from Russia before Turkiye bought the S-400. Why no punishment for Greece?!! Instead, Greece was awarded the F-35's that Turkiye paid for.

Türkiye has been long denied admission into the European Club and thus it has a very independent foreign policy. Bravo, Türkiye!

Wrong! Turkey went to Russia for the S400 AFTER the US denied the F35's to Turkey.
