How to Safely Merge

Merging can be stressful for some drivers. And with good reason. Merging requires a driver to pay attention to things happening behind the vehicle, in front of the vehicle and in two lanes to the left of the vehicle. CAA has put together a few tips to help drivers safely merge on to a highway.

This is the worst advise of merging I have ever heard. I have been a driving instructor for a long time and the sequence proposed is not only out of order but very confusing. CAA please contact me, we need to fix this video right away.

Sadly, this isn't always possible. I tried merging while getting off of a ramp, and I would've been successful if it wasn't for the truck driver that floored it. If I hadn't had stopped at the end of the ramp, that 18 wheeler could've caused an accident. Not to mention that there were absolutely no gaps behind that truck. No where big enough for me to squeeze in. I was forced to stop and wait for a large enough opening to merge into traffic and speed up.
