Why is the acceleration same (negative) when a body rises and then falls under gravity freely?

This video tries to explain why the acceleration of a body is same (negative) when it is thrown upwards, rises to a height and falls back on its own.

The stress is mainly on the fact that the acceleration is due to constant force, which is simply equal to the force of gravity between them.

Sir what will be the sign of 'g' when a bullet is fired from a mountain?? It goes in downward direction in projectile motion, so i think it should be positive. M i right??
