In general, people think positive acceleration means increasing speed and a negative acceleration means decreasing speed or deceleration. But that is not true in all cases. It all depends on the combination of velocity and acceleration directions. Mostly we say vel inc acceleration is + and vel dec acc should be -ve
For rare cases (that of decelerating/retarding)when velocity dec acc + in + x axis

so deceleration is when an objects slows down in terms of speed, not necesarily velocity. in terms of velocity it simply means that the acceleration vector and velocity vector are acting in opposite directions, hence negative and positive acceleration

In case 3, how is acceleration in the negative direction
As we have learned that the direction in which velocity is changing will be the direction of acceleration
So here how the acceleration has negative direction while velocity has positive???
