Summer of 1979, 17 years old going into my senior year of high school. Summer job working at a service station 5 days a week after morning weight lifting at the high school weight room for the upcoming sports seasons. Every wednesday summer dances at The White Palace at Wheeling Park in Wheeling, W.Va. and tuesday dances At the Martins Ferry Rec Center. This song was played many times and still have memories of the slow dances to this song with several different girls. Oh to be that age again but time marches on and i'll always remember that summer!

I was 9 years old when this song came out from Rex Smith! Before it hit the airwaves on FM radio, it was featured on the after school TV show special titled Sooner or later starring Rex Smith! I remember clearly after the TV show aired my 2nd to oldest sister went out to purchase Rex smiths album also titled Sooner or later and when she wasn't home I got it out, put it on her record player and listened to his song titled you take my breath away! That song and it's lyrics are not sad at all but that song broke my heart when I first heard it! It's funny how upbeat positive songs can have that kind of effect! I still love that song even though it feels sad to me! It also brings back memories of a simpler space in time in 1979! I'd love to be back there! Less weirdos, excellent music, not all of these absurd coffee shops and social media blitz! Rex Smith was a true Gem and his music is classic! 🌞

This was a song at my wedding. It will be 44 years on Nov. 17. Love my husband more now than on that day. He is my best friend.

Just an amazing song. Simple and beautifully sung. I am 66 in 2024 and this song still reminds me of my younger days and friends. It also makes me think of a current friend who is the most beautiful woman I have ever known. She is a good friend and I tell her that this song was written just for her. She thinks that I am crazy, but she really has no idea how beautiful she is. Here’s to you Lori B.

Who remembers TIGER BEAT MAGAZINE? I would get my magazine and go crazy over Rex Smith, Donny Osmand, Leif Garrett. Oh if I could go back in time.

This takes me back to fun carefree days in 1979, 8th grade age 13. Life was so different 40 years ago.

I’m 84 and this is still my favorite all time song. Listen about about once a week on Utube. ❤

I had a Rex Smith poster on my bedroom wall, along with Shaun Cassidy, Robbie Benson, Leif Garrett, Andy Gibb, and Clark Brandon. All posters courtesy of Tiger Beat and 16 Magazine, of course. I used to hide away in the formal living room (gold velveteen couch included) and lay on the green shag carpet, front and center of the stereo console, my head directly between the speakers for stereo effect, and play this record over and over and over again. :)
