Eva Cassidy was the lead singer for a band that I and my wife-to-be hired for our wedding reception in the fall of 1986 (years before she was famous). We had booked them months in advance -- not because she was famous, that would come at least 10 years later -- but because that's what you did, planning a wedding. (I wanted to hire Root Boy Slim, but Donna said, "No frickin' way." The band cost $700, including the agent's fee, and it had broken up by the time we got married.. But they were good to their commitment. Eva showed up in a cast (broken leg) and sang every song sitting down. They rocked that Hilton ballroom in Fairfax County, and she blew away every one of our guests. None of you have ever heard her sing, "Ain't to Proud to Beg, " but I have, because she did at our reception, and I have a video to prove it. RIP Eva, you were amazing then and now!

Martin, a friend of mine in the record industry was visiting America. He met with Tony who produced Eva's records. Martin was blown away by her voice and wanted to meet her. Sadly she had passed away. Martin negotiated the rights for Australasia, England and I think Europe. He want to see the producer of Terry Wogan and made him play Over the Rainbow. The rest is history. Martin doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves for helping bring Eva to the world.... thank you Martin.

I came upon her beautiful voice years ago. I had forced myself to not allow all the emotional pain I was going through affect me in any way at that time. I was in a very dark place. I became a different person. And then Eva happened. Everything came flooding out of me. Anger. Frustration. Pain. Denial. It was the simplicity of her voice that coaxed all the negative energy. I listened to her for several days and just cried. And now every time I hear her voice...it makes me smile. Thank you Eva...you literally saved my life. Hope to meet you somewhere over the rainbow...
